What is a team?

Oxford dictionary defines a team as a group of players forming one side in a competitive game. In sports, a team is comprised of several different people that each hold a unique position. Each position requires a specific set of skills and carries out a specific function during the game. The same can be said for the way a team functions within a business.

Here at Clear Path, our team is comprised of a number of different disciplines and areas of expertise, which all come together to create a full set of complementary skills. It's this team dynamic that allows us to provide customized, cost-effective services to meet all your HR, Disability Management, and Safety needs. Read more about our team and it's different functions here.

From the sports field to the workplace

Especially in a small business setting, having a high-performing team is absolutely critical to the overall success of the company. But how do you get to this high level of performance? Getting the right people with the right skill sets on board is definitely important - but it’s also about creating cohesion. When your employees are happy and able to work well together, they also tend to be more creative and productive.

A great way to foster this sense of group unity and cohesion is to regularly host team-building activities. The Small Business Chronicle offers up a few reasons why these team-building activities can be so successful:
  1. Builds Trust: Mutual trust fostered by team-building activities can allow your employees to depend more on one another and be more productive and efficient as a result.
  2. Eases Conflicts: To ease conflicts, use team-building activities that allow coworkers to get to know one another on a personal level.
  3. Increases Collaboration: team-building activities can establish a stronger bond between coworkers which can help increase collaboration during daily business activities.
  4. Effective Communication: employees can learn how to better communicate with one another because they probably will be faced with activities that need to be solved as a group.

Team building at Clear Path

Clear Path regularly hosts a number of team social events. From snow tubing to laser tag we firmly believe in the importance of having fun together. Here's a bit from our company vision statement:

We view life as a journey to be enjoyed and appreciated.
We create an atmosphere of fun and happiness so all around us enjoy it as well.
We believe that what is fun gets done.
We enjoy spending time with our teammates and customers.
We celebrate and reward our successes.
We value humour, but never at the expense of another.
